Should There Be An Inquisition For The Pope?

WASHINGTON – It doesn’t seem right that the Catholic Church is spending Holy Week practicing the unholy art of spin.

Complete with crown-of-thorns imagery, the church has started an Easter public relations blitz defending a pope who went along with the perverse culture of protecting molesters and the church’s reputation rather than abused — and sometimes disabled and disadvantaged — children.

The church gave up its credibility for Lent. Holy Thursday and Good Friday are now becoming Cover-Up Thursday and Blame-Others Friday.

This week of special confessions and penance services is unfolding as the pope resists pressure from Catholics around the globe for his own confession and penance about the cascade of child sexual abuse cases that were ignored, even by a German diocese and Vatican office he ran.

If church fund-raising and contributions dry up, Benedict’s P.R. handlers may yet have to stage a photo-op where he steps out of the priest’s side of the confessional and enters the side where the rest of his fallible flock goes. (more…)

WEAVERVILLE, NC – I have discovered, through a writer friend of mine, a Web Research Tool called Diigo. Diigo is available as a plugin in the popular Web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. This article features the Chrome Extension for Diigo available for the Google Chrome Web browser. Diigo highlights webpages with multiple colors as you read online; also allows tagging and sticky notes.

Diigo Web Highlighter and Bookmark enables you to:

1) Highlight important paragraphs of any web page with multiple colors, and save them to your Diigo account automatically.

2) Tag web pages, add them to a list, and share them to a group.

3) Add sticky notes to any web page.

Other Cool features include:

1) Cross-post to Delicious.

2) Share to a group, great for collaborative research.

3) Support Twitter/Facebook login

The Chrome Extension for Diigo is available at the Diigo Chrome Extension download site.

Rather than explain some of the many features of Diigo, I would rather you watch the following video called Ms. Ileane Speaks, created by Ms. Ileane, a podcaster who uses and supports Diigo.

WEAVERVILLE, NC – Welcome to what I hope will be many personal blog posts to come. My goal is to present a blog post that expresses to the general public what I’m thinking about; what I’m trying to accomplish at the moment; my opinions related to newsworthy items, current events, and other things of a personal nature; and much more. I have decided to name my personal blog: “Everyone is Entitled to My Opinion.” This personal blog post will be the 2nd Feature of The Chronicler’s Web. I will endeavor to post a blog daily but reserve the right to post less often if I don’t have anything personal to blog about. So, you may see my blog posts change every other day or three or four times per week instead.

I have been unemployed now since May, 2009. In this difficult financial market that we find ourselves in these days, it has been extremely difficult if not impossible to find continued employment in my field especially in my area. My field is computers, information technology, and networking. If you’re looking to hire someone in the IT, networking, or computer industry, my resume can be found online at Dan’s Online Resume.

Even with a Master of Science degree in Information Technology and the current pursuit of a PhD in IT Education, no one seems to be hiring out there. It’s very frustrating when one submits a resume to several online jobseeking sites like Monster, Dice.com, Jobs.com, AmericanJobs.com, and HigherEdJobs.com and nothing solid happens. As one recruiter headhunter told me recently, no one is currently hiring for full-time positions because the financial market is so bad. It’s very hard to find a job when the national unemployment rate is hovering around 10%. Employers are looking to hire you for contract positions, but in most cases you must relocate and the contract is of short duration. If, however, you want a job selling insurance on a commission-based salary, then there are many openings available with local banks or insurance companies; but no benefits. Perhaps the new healthcare bill will help to resolve that issue. Who knows.

So, the job search goes on. Seeking professional help in job searching is about the only alternative that I’ve yet to explore, which I will be exploring this week.

Wish me luck!
