Webmaster/Owner/Admin
Hello, there. My name is Dan Calloway, and I was born in 1953 in Detroit, Michigan.
I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where I went to college to obtain my BA in mathematics in 1975 before joining the U.S. Navy in 1977. After completing 20 years of service, I came back to my roots and started my second career in Information Technology.
I have been an IT professional for 15 years, and am currently attending Capella University where I received my Master of Science degree in IT in March, 2008. I am currently pursuing my PhD in IT Education. Professional affiliations include IT networking consultancy expert to the Internet of Things (IoT) Council in Amsterdam, Holland; member of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA); student member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and the ACM-W (Women’s assistance branch); and lifetime member of the Naval Supply Corps Association.
I subscribe to many “Callo-” ways about thinking, which I project in my blog articles. Succinctly put, this means that I approach many issues from a decidedly different perspective, often injecting my own critical thinking into the articles that I write and into the ones I republish to the Worldwide Web or W3. I think you will find most of my articles to be inspirational, informative, and thought provoking.
I have totally eradicated MS Windows from my home WLAN. I use Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS, Ubuntu Linux Netbook Edition 10.04 LTS, and MacOS 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) exclusively on my network. The latest edition of Ubuntu Linux, Ubuntu Linux Netbook Edition, and Ubuntu Linux Server are available for download at the Ubuntu Download site.
