Variety News Website

Variety News

I have opened a new website on the CMS Web Concepts domain called Variety News. This website is a collaborative effort among budding authors around the world to get their writing published.
The website allows you to register for an account and start writing right away. When you write your articles, you assign them to the most applicable category that corresponds to the content or intent of the article. That is to say, if you’re writing about your most recent fishing trip to Lake Powhatan, then you would select the category of Sports & Recreation > Fishing to which to assign the article. If, however, you’re writing about a jewelry fashion show you attended, then you would want to select Fashion > Jewelry as the most applicable category. Don’t worry, if you write an article and assign it to the wrong category, I will reassign it to the correct one.
Authors who write for Variety News have their articles credited to them, not to anyone else. The timestamp on the article also shows when it was published. As the site admin, I have the responsibility to screen all articles submitted for publication and approve them prior to being published. This ensures quality articles are published and that the content does not violate any local or federal laws or ethical considerations.
Please consider becoming an author on my website by visiting Variety News today! I look forward to working with you.

The Purpose of Critical Thinking

by DAN CALLOWAY
Published 2 November 2010

WEAVERVILLE - The purpose of reading conflicting viewpoints on an academic topic by scholars is to engage the scholar in critical thinking about the subject matter s/he is reading. Through the process of reading conflicting viewpoints on an academic topic, the scholar begins to compare, analyze, and synthesize the viewpoints of other scholars in the field with her own viewpoints, thus allowing the scholar to then compare her own theories, hypotheses, or conjectures regarding the academic subject with that of her colleagues who, in turn, can then debate the reviewing scholar’s position by providing additional facts and literature to support their original claims.

This practice of scholarly engagement is what allows the academic body of knowledge to expand and to be reinforced. Through the understanding of conflicting academic viewpoints and the process of employing academic argument by one or more scholars, the ideas, concepts, and theories that have been heretofore accepted or embraced are further tested to their limits, often questioned, and the inevitable result is either a total change in ideological direction by the scholarly whole or a dismissal of the original theory as potentially being irrelevant, incomplete, lacking in credibility, or requiring further research.
As a graduate learner, I would offer the following tips to others who are struggling to analyze and write about conflicting scholarly points of view. First, and foremost, the graduate learner should conduct research into the scholarly literature on what is available to her on the viewpoints of other scholars in the academic arena. Second, the graduate learner should group the information that is acquired in either a thematic or chronological categorization. Third, she should construct an evaluative annotated bibliography from the references that are obtained on the academic topic that is to be analyzed and written about. And, lastly, the graduate learner should determine the format of the paper that s/he will use to present her arguments either for or against those of other scholars using correct APA format to ensure that all citations used in the paper are properly referenced allowing other readers to follow them properly and to read the supporting documentation for themselves in order for them to compare, analyze, and synthesize their own viewpoints, and to offer their own arguments on the academic topic.

A Man After God’s Own Heart
by Dan Calloway

Lord, help me to be a better man

Who strives to understand

Your wisdom and Your mercy

The loving kindness that you show me.

God, please bring me to the place

Of Your everlasting grace

And touch the garment of Your Son

When Your will for my life is done.

Heavenly Father, show me the way

I should walk everyday

As a true Christian should walk

Not simply just to talk.

And, Lord, most of all

Bring me the peace for which I call

And show me a fresh start

To be a man after God’s own heart.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Eric Lige, in collaboration with Christian music vocalists Leonard Patton and Peter Sprague have combined forces to launch a new Christian music video entitled: “For This Reason.” The words and music are by Eric Lige and Leonard Patton.

This song is from the 2009 release titled “Surrender”. It’s available at www.ericlige.com as well as iTunes. This song also features jazz guitarist Peter Sprague.

Eric and Leonard created these lyrics from II Chronicles 7:14. This passage from the Bible is a very important passage on intercessory prayer. It teaches God’s people that when there are problems in their nation, communities, families, and personal lives, God will heal those situations if they will come to Him in humility and repentance.

This prayer teaches us that if God’s conditions are met, which are that we humble ourselves and turn away from our sin, He will hear, forgive our sins, and heal our land. This prayer is of vital importance concerning what is happening in most nations, communities, and homes in the world today. Violence, drugs, alcoholism, crime, divorce, sexual perversion, economic problems, poverty, and disease are rampant in our world. However, God’s people can do something about it if they humble themselves in prayer and turn from their sin, expecting God to do what only He can.

Please turn up your speakers and enjoy this wonderful Christian message set to music.
