VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Future-Watch News Desk is reporting today that the prominent Internet researcher, mathematician, and member of the IoTC in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Dr. Daniel Calloway, PhD, was found dead in his Virginia Beach, VA home at the age of 86 . The exact cause of death has not been determined, pending an autopsy, but Dr. Calloway appears to have died from natural causes.
Dr. Calloway was born to Mr. Roy O. Calloway and Mrs. Ethel J. Calloway of Asheville. Growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina, he attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville where he obtained his BA degree in mathematics in 1975 before joining the U.S. Navy in 1977. After completing 20 years of service, he returned to his roots where he started his second career in Information Technology.
Having been an IT professional for nearly 15 years, he received his Master of Science degree in IT from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN in March, 2008. He then went on to obtain his PhD in IT Education from Capella University in 2013.
Dr. Calloway is most noted for his ground-breaking research in the field of Internet communications, whose knowledge of combinatorial mathematics and papers written by Dr. Calloway, which represented concentrated research in the field of cloud computing, ubicomp, and ambient intelligence (AmI) helped bring about the further development of the iGtN v6 protocol or Inter-Galactic Tacyon Network version 6 that opened the gateway to Internet communications on a galactic scale through research into tacyon (faster-than-light particles) communications and advanced networking protocol design.
Professional affiliations include IT networking consultancy expert to the Internet of Things (IoT) Council in Amsterdam, Holland, member of the ACM, and member of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
Dr. Calloway was a native of Asheville, NC, moving to Virginia Beach, VA in 2022 where he remained until his death. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his son, Dennis, his identical twin brother, Donald, sister, Susan, granddaughter, Lana, and many nieces & nephews.
Family visitation will be held from 7 – 9 pm at the Virginia Beach Veterans Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday with a memorial service planned for Friday afternoon at 2pm at the Veterans Memorial in Virginia Beach, Va.
